Newcomers

Your First Visit

Visitors are warmly welcomed to Centre Meeting. Our Meeting for Worship is held on Sundays at 11:00 a.m. Dress is casual, please wear what you feel comfortable in. Please note we do NOT have air conditioning, so warm weather clothing (such as short sleeves & shorts) should be considered in the summer months.

Please see our page on Meeting for Worship for more information on a typical Sunday Morning Meeting for Worship.

We like to acknowledge newcomers during introductions. Please feel free to say a few words about yourself, if you desire. You are encouraged to stay following the meeting, so other Friends can greet you and answer any questions you may have. We would be most appreciative if you would sign our guest book before leaving.

We also welcome ALL newcomers to our potlucks (4th Sunday of the month.) You do NOT have to bring food to attend.

Centre Friends Meeting is a diverse, spiritually reflective, and socially conscious community. We are young and old, single and coupled, seasoned and new to the Quaker tradition, accepting of all ethnic, sexual identities & orientations, and come from various religious backgrounds. We find inspiration in our over 300 year history, historic Meetinghouse, and the beautiful, rich, and rolling countryside, nestled in the Piedmont, a short drive from Philadelphia.

Accessibility / Handicap Information:

Due to the age of our Meeting House & retention of many historic aspects (it was built around 1800), the Meeting House is, regrettably, not readily accessible to wheelchairs.  Walkers and rollators CAN be accommodated in the Meeting Room & Lobby, please enter the meeting house through the red wooden door (no windows) on the FRONT of the meeting house towards the LEFT side, NOT the regular entrance to the West Side (FAR LEFT), as there are 2 steps down into the Meeting Room. The bathroom requires two steps up out of the Meeting Room (steps can be by bypassed by going out the front door, then back in the far side door), has narrow access doors and a low ceiling, within the approximate 1800 historic Meeting House footprint & roofline.

  • Parking for those who need to be closer to the Meeting House can be found on the West Side of the Meeting House, and is marked in BLUE in the picture above. Those parking on the East Side of the meeting house will face 2 steps up as you approach the Meeting House; a handrail is provided.
  • Our Schoolhouse IS designed to accommodate wheelchairs, the main entrance (to the NORTH side of the schoolhouse) has a ramp. The bathroom is also handicap accessible.
